Junior Womens World Softball Championship 2013
You might be wondering why I chose to write about The Junior Women's World Softball Championship

It's not that we have 8 players from BC that made Team Canada, nor is it that out of those 8 girls...3 of them are from Surrey.... All of which our definitely making not only our local community proud, but Canada as a whole....

It's because one of our very own is a member of Team Canada and today she had an amazing day and brought tears to my eyes hearing about it. Lisa Speers one of our team member's daughter - Holly is having the time of her life. An experience like none other being a part of Team Canada's Junior women's Softball team proudly representing our country. I have personally watched Holly grow into an amazing woman and our whole family is beaming with pride to be able to say we know someone playing for Team Canada in The Junior Women's World Softball Championship.

Today Holly had an amazing day, one she will not soon forget - hitting a home run, a double, a single with one run scored and 2 runs batted in. She played left field in both games. On top of accomplishing all of that, her single broke up the U.S. pitcher's no hitter in this evening's game.

So far Canada is sitting in 2nd place in their division behind the United States with 5 wins and 1 loss. Canadians should be proud of our girls. I know we are!

On top of all that she is playing back in my family's home town of Brampton, Ontario....Playing in all our old stomping grounds is kind of neat. Kind of like sharing a piece of our family with the Speers Family, even though we aren't there to share it with them.
