iGeneration and technology in general...shaping our children's future

HillcrestI read an excellent article this morning about a school, not only in my neighbourhood but where my girls went when they were younger and how the use of technology today has changed the way some schools teach.

It's incredible how fast technology has changed the mindset of not only teaching but learning. It's only been a couple years since my girls were in elementary school and iPads weren't even a part of our world like they are today. 1st generation iPads were only introduced back in January of 2010. Now schools all over the place are using iPads in the classroom.

The following article from the Now newspaper is titled the iPod generation...when in fact I think the better name would have been the iGeneration. Click on the following link to read the article:

Then this afternoon, I read a tweet that not only re-iterated how much the world we live in has changed but how much the world our children live in is ever changing. A Mom I follow on Twitter, tweeted how her little boy couldn't understand why they couldn't fast forward live TV.... :) Straight from the mouths of babes...(That's always been one of my favourite sayings because of how true it is.)

When I was a child we wondered what life would be like in 20, 50 or a 100 years. Today it makes you wonder what life will be like in 5, 10, 15 years.... I can't even imagine what kind of technology will be available and what technology will be obsolete.

What do you think? How much more will technology have shaped our lives in the next few years?
