Face Time - awesome!

Every parent can appreciate where I am coming from when I tell you how excited I was to use Facetime for the 1st time with my daughter in London, England.

I know there has been Skype around for a while, but even though I have signed up for an account I had no idea how to use it.

My daughter has been in Europe for just over a week and I remembered today that we could use Facetime with my iPad and her iPhone. Although of course there was the dilemma of trying to figure out how to use it. I opened it up and figured I could send her a message and it would start FaceTime....I quickly figured out that wouldn't work when she sent me back a message wondering where I was texting her from. Thank goodness for Google, I literally entered "How do I use" and I didn't even have to input FaceTime as it was the 3rd in the list of options. Which made me feel good, at least I wasn't the only idiot out there. :)

For all you iPad users if you want to use FaceTime to someone else's phone you need to enter their email address. If you are using an iPhone to iPhone then you use their phone number.

Even though my little girl comes home from a trip of a lifetime tomorrow, it meant a lot to me to be able to see her face and physically talk to her, instead of just texting. In these days of technology there is still nothing like being able to hear your loved ones voice and even better when you can see them too. I have done very well over the last couple of weeks while she was away, but when I saw her face the emotions overwhelmed me and I had to fight back the tears.

I owe a big thank you to Steve Jobs and he has left a lasting memory on all of us. I love my iPhone and iPad and wouldn't trade them in for the world!
